Dr. Philipp Stompfe advises on international contract and corporate law as well as on international arbitration.

Philipp Stompfe studied law at the University of Marburg (Germany) and passed his first State Exam (J.D. equivalent) in 2010. He obtained his LL.M. (Master of Law) in International Business Law and International Dispute Resolution from Queen Mary University of London. In 2016, he received his doctor‘s degree with summa cum laude from the University of Cologne (Germany) for his doctoral dissertation on “The Formation and Protection of International Investment Agreements in the Arab World and Example of Libya and Qatar“. He was awarded the Best Dissertation in International Law of 2016 by Osborne Clarke. Philipp Stompfe is licensed to practice law in Germany and qualified to hold the office of a judge in German state courts.

Prior to joining Alexander & Partner in 2017, Philipp Stompfe worked for an international law firm being mainly responsible for the structuring and implementation of construction and infrastructure projects in the MENA-Region, especially in Libya and Qatar. Within the team of Alexander & Partner, he is primarily involved in international litigation and arbitration. Philipp Stompfe, inter alia, advises on international contract and corporate law, construction law, project finance, as well as on the structuring and implementation of cross-border investment projects.

He regularly publishes on international business and investment law and international arbitration.

Philipp Stompfe is bilingual in German and English and has basic knowledge in Modern Standard Arabic. Prior to his law studies he studied Arabic at the Institute of Foreign Languages of the Ruhr-Universität Bochum (Germany) where he obtained a certified diploma in Arabic.
