Martin Brown is an English qualified solicitor and has over 25 years’ experience advising on international finance transactions.

He acts for a number of global conventional and Islamic financial institutions, as well as sponsors and corporate borrowers. His broad-based finance experience includes project finance, Islamic finance, real estate and development finance, syndicated finance, acquisition and leveraged finance, debt capital markets, asset and trade finance, fund formation and fund management and restructurings.

In addition to his finance work, Martin Brown advises on the English law aspects of corporate acquisitions, joint ventures and investments with particular experience in the health, manufacturing and real estate industries.

Prior to joining Alexander & Partner in 2022 Martin Brown worked for a number of preeminent international firms in the City of London and subsequently in the State of Qatar. He was partner and head of the Qatar office of Addleshaw Goddard as well as head of their international Islamic finance practice and prior to that he was partner in the Qatar office and head of the regional finance practice for Dentons in the Middle East. Before relocating to Qatar in 2008 Martin Brown worked in the international finance practices at White & Case and Ashurst in the City of London.

Martin Brown studied Latin and Ancient History at the University of London and subsequently obtained his Postgraduate Diploma in Law (with commendation) and Postgraduate Diploma in Legal Practice (with commendation) from the College of Law, Guildford in the United Kingdom. He qualified as a solicitor in England and Wales in October 1999.
